MANHATTAN BEACH

We were asked to create a family home that was serene and sophisticated but also durable and considerate of children and beach life. Our clients wanted to include styling, curating an art collection, and tonal layering to gently cozy up the modern spaces.

We sourced from many of our favorite vendors on the East Coast and nationally and also shopped locally in Manhattan Beach to support the vibrant design community and add authenticity to the final story. Artwork, plants, upholstered goods and accessories were brought in from shops around town. The resulting story is one that is peaceful and timeless with persisting beach vibes that are not too literal.

The project began in the beginning of covid when lead times were erratic and shipping containers often got stuck for weeks at loading docks. In this case, the clients could look out their kitchen windows to see cargo ships waiting to go into port. We laughed about which one was holding their chandeliers and the patience allowed us to complete the project with our original selections and vision.

These clients are also great friends and it was an honor to get to help them create their dream home in which they're raising their family. We were recently called back to create a beautiful nursery for their baby girl. Being at the ready as our clients grow and move through life is incredibly rewarding.
