About the project
Our clients were in need of a thoughtful furniture layout, overall design selections, and full furnishings for their formal living room.
-
The clients desired something that was refined but also interesting and unlike the standard palettes and patterns they'd seen before. They wanted the room to feel dressy but to also work nicely for viewing TV and enjoying their stunning fireplace and built-ins.
-
We worked off of the existing fireplace and built-ins as the backdrop to the space and pulled furniture and patterns that were reminiscent of a traditional story, but were brought forward with color and context. The clients possessed an assortment of unique and whimsical accessories that really brought the space together in a personal way.
-
The living Room had three door openings, two windows, and a fireplace so creating a cozy seating arrangement that worked in the space, allowed for TV viewing, and also gave space for walking around was something we considered throughout the design process. Form followed function in this case, but we ended in a place that felt intuitive and without a hint of sacrifice to the beauty of the space.
-
The clients continued to be open to taking risks and that was very fun for us. They shared that they might not be so inclined to go for a blue chesterfield sofa or colorfully patterned drapery if they weren't working with a professional designer. Encouraging them to pick a few surprises for the space and seeing the final outcome was wonderful!
